I have begun to go to specialised restaurants because average ones really do not go to the same lengths to assure you food stays 100% Vegan Friendly e.g. mixing our meals and meat meals with the same utensils, frying our food in fat that has fried meat and the worst, picking meat out of regular meat meals and claiming it is Vegan!!
It is disgusting and ignorant.
Vegan restaurants are passionate about Veganism and make sure that their food is nothing but!!
Plus, they are always super friendly =D |

I would have to say I would go to a vegan restaurant if I could, but up here in Northern Ontario, Canada, there just aren't any all vegan restaurants. There is a new restaurant however that justopened up in town called My Thai Palace, who specialize in Thai food and have a whole vegetarian menu which I looked at the ingredients and they don't use eggs or milk, butter or cheese either (I find a lot of "vegetarian menus" just LOAD on the cheese cause they don't know how else to add flavour). I don't eat out often, but when I do I tell the waiter that I'm a strict vegan and would like my meal to be made with clean utensils. They have been very respectful of me and haven't given me attitude, probably because a huge majority of their clientelle is vegetarian/vegan . . . I know for a fact my naturopathic doctor and all his colleagues go there for dinner on Saturdays because it's the healthiest and tastiest food in town. And, you can bring your omnivore relatives out for dinner with you at that type of restaurant.
Anyway, good luck, because eating out is one of the bigger challenges we vegans face (among other things )

| Pasta is the easiest dish to make vegan for most restaurants. But I enjoy going to Thai and Chinese restaurants because many of their dishes are vegan already. |

I have begun calling ahead before going somewhere to see what vegan meals they have. If they do not have anything I like, I refuse to go. _________________ Cat Pictures |

It will probably be some time before we see all-vegan restaurants |

| If you go to a mexican restaurant order a taco salad with just beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, onions, jalapeno, chips used like croutons and whatever else you can think of that is veggie. Soemtimes I will sneak in my vegan sour cream. You can also make it into a burrito instead of a taco salad. |
