Vegan Food

Vegan food is food that does not contain any animal products, such as meat and dairy. In the strictest sense, vegan food also cannot be made with any animal products or products that were tested on animals. For example, to be vegan in the strict sense, pasta must not be stirred with animal bone.

Vegan Food - Meals

The following are examples of breakfast vegan food: vegan pancakes (made with soy milk and no eggs), vegan hash browns (fried in vegetable oil), vegan cereals (e.g. Alpha Bits, Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, etc.), unfrosted pop tarts, granola bars, oatmeal, etc.

The following are examples of lunchtime and dinnertime vegan food: no-cheese pizza, rice, pasta, vegetable soup, etc.

Vegan food - Substitutes

There are many non-vegan foods that have vegan food substitutes. For example, most grocery stores carry vegetarian burgers, fake chicken, meatless ground beef, etc.

This makes it easy to serve vegans at non-vegan social functions. For example, if someone has a cookout for non-vegans, they can serve vegans vegetarian burgers without making extra special arrangements.

Cooking Vegan Foods

Even though there are many ready-to-eat selections at regular grocery stores for vegans, many vegans like to cook their vegan foods. Many common recipes are vegan - basically anything that doesn't include meat, dairy, or eggs. Additionally, many recipes can easily be modified to become vegan. For example, eggs can often be replaced with banana; milk can be replaced with soy milk. Beyond that, additionally many vegan recipe books are available with recipes for vegan foods.

All in all, there are many vegan foods for vegans to enjoy. So, go out and get yourself some vegan food!
